TeachAde - Discussion: Brand new teacher/Second career

This is my first year teaching. I am a second grade teacher and would love to hear from others on anything related to teaching elementary school kids. I teach at a school that is predominately hispanic. The culture is interesting, but challenging. I do not speak spanish therefore it is difficult to communicate with most of the parents.

I am having a difficult start as a teacher. I welcome you to post a reply.

I realize that the hour is late so to speak but I was wondering how you were "lswilson22". I have some questions regarding how your first year went for you. For example did you find it difficult to obtain a fellow teacher as a mentor during your difficulties? How did the parents react to the language barrier you were facing? Any feedback is welcome as I am a pre service teacher and am very curious as to see how you managed.
