HI WRITERS!!

So, Dave got us back onto this blog - thought I'd give it a go. Writer's Workshop has been going well. Still working on getting my mini-lessons down to 10 min. max. Any strategies out there that have worked at keeping you to the time limit? Also, had a COW in class. :) It worked out nicely...once we got started. I think the set up will become more efficient as we use it. Definitely try it - just be prepared for a slow start. I wanted my students to have the full hour on the laptops. By the time I set up the COW up, distributed laptops, instructed on opening & turning on along with distributing passwords - I'd say they were on for a solid 25 min. Hopefully, with more practice my students & I will become more efficient. The saving, shut down and collecting only took 5 min. We got better already. :) Chat soon. Cat

I haven't used the cow yet for writing. I like using the lab because it allows more students to work at one time. With regards to timing, maybe set a timer so that you are signaled to when you should finish.

I'm feeling pretty good about my writing lessons. I'm getting better with conferencing, but neet to do a bettter job of recording information and organizing my notes. I created a little check list with each student name and columns for research. compliment and teaching point. It has been helpful. See ya, Dave
