You may have noticed from my posts that I’m a bit frugal. I can’t help it; I learned it early in my youth. Because I don’t believe in paying more for something than you have to, I love finding inexpensive alternatives for retail items and entertainment. Your public library is one such value bonanza. If you haven’t been to a library in awhile because a big online bookseller has become your internet go-to site, stop by!
They have much more than books there, my friends. You can checkout relatively recent movies for a week or more for FREE - as long as you return it on time. No monthly fees involved. The library also has children’s videos and educational learning DVDs.
Are you a music fan? Some libraries stock hundreds, even thousands, of CDs in just about every genre. You can also pick up an audio CD or book on tape for your next road trip.
And, if your local branch doesn’t have what you’re looking for, go search the library’s information system for titles, authors or subjects, all online now. Usually, you can reserve any item in the system and they will even send you an email notification when it’s ready to pick up at your particular branch.
Check it out. You may not need that expensive movie membership or cable package after all.
