Don’t you just love the announcers for televised professional soccer matches? I find it hard to follow all of the action, but I sure know when someone scores, as that drawn out “GOOOOAALLLL!” booms out over the airwaves.
It comes to mind every time I think of the most important aspect of any sort of financial planning. What are your GOALS? (more…)
Hello! I’m Elizabeth and as a Certified Financial Planner™ I believe in two basic principles: know the value of something so you don’t pay more than you should for it, and save as much as you can comfortably. Working in the financial services industry for years and years, I’ve been privy to all of the basic financial building blocks since I received my first paycheck: start saving early, pay yourself first, take advantage of free employer benefits, etc., so these things are second nature to me.
However, for the average person, there is so much information out there that it drives some folks to financial apathy - I can’t possibly understand this as much as I need to, so I’ll just ignore it until I REALLY have to think about it. Well, it’s time to think about it. (more…)
Hi. we are starting the new world of standardized testing.
In today’s ever increasing digital world, textbooks are going digital in more and more classrooms. Has this been the case at your school?
Please see the article below from today’s Washington Post:

After being interviewed by the school administration, the prospective teacher said:
‘Let me see if I’ve got this right.
‘You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor their T-shirt messages, and instill in them a love for learning.
‘You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self esteem and personal pride.
‘You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a checkbook, and apply for a job.
‘You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behavior, and make sure that they all pass the final exams.
‘You also want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps, and communicate regularly with their parents in English, Spanish or any other language, by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card.
‘You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board, a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps.
‘You want me to do all this and then you tell me. . . I CAN’T PRAY?
I just joined TeachAde and i’m ready to roll.
