Teachers TV - From Good to Outstanding
Hi everyone, I’m working on behalf of Teachers TV to ask for teachers to give their advice and opinions to fellow teachers who are taking part in a new series of From Good to Outstanding http://bit.ly/outstanding. I thought the teachers on this site would find this relevant, so I hope this is OK to post here. The series started on 9th June 2009 and we would really like more teachers to get involved and let us know what they think.
Here’s a bit more about the programmes: Taking a teacher who was rated ‘good’ by their school, viewers will have the opportunity to give their advice about how they could deliver an ‘outstanding’ lesson. After also receiving advice from specialist coaches, we find out what impact the experience has had on each teacher taking part.
Read more about secondary science teacher Hana and early years teacher Rachel in the discussion group http://bit.ly/goodgroup as they are interviewed by Teachers TV. Hana and Rachel welcome your advice after their first lesson which is now live, so do get involved.
Thanks in advance for your contributions.

Preventing the Summer “Brain Drain”
Always a hot topic at the end of the school year is how much information are students going to lose over the summer? Some researchers suggest, as found in this article from the Washington Post that most of the loss is in math, and not in subjects such as reading where most school systems participate in required summer reading.
Are you experiencing a summer brain drain come fall with your students? Do you think more of an emphasis should be placed on math over the summer? Please comment below.

The Prince’s Rainforests Project
See the info below on the Prince’s Rainforests Project!
http://schools.rainforestsos.org
http://www.my-fundraising-project.co.uk/page.php?page=hp_rainforests
We are delighted to announce a new initiative for schools, which brings your teaching about rainforests to life, and at the same time, raises money for your school.
My Rainforest Project is being run in association with The Prince’s Rainforests Project. It is open to children, teachers and parents and offers everyone an opportunity to create a rainforest picture which can then be used on e-cards and bookmarks for free, as well as on a range of personalised products including cards, mugs, and reusable shopping bags for purchase.
It is free to register, free to take part, and everyone can have free downloadable bookmarks and e-cards. There is no minimum order for any item and all the products carry The Prince’s Rainforests Project logo to commemorate your involvement in the project. But what is great is that 10% of all sales go to your school.
It has been designed with teachers in mind, so all you have to do is register your class, download templates for the children to draw on and send them back. My Rainforest Project uploads the images and lets you know when you can download flyers to give to the children with individual codes so they can access their own designs. Your children can create their e-cards and order products online at home.
This project will end 31st December 2009, so if you would like to take part, please sign up your school at The Prince’s Rainforests Project for Schools or visit My Rainforest Project for more information.
Thank you very much for your continued support!
